The Mazda L3 engine is a family of 2.3L DOHC, 16-valve inline-4 gasoline engines, also known as the MZR, featuring an aluminium block, iron crankshaft, and a timing chain. The naturally aspirated L3-VE produces around 122-166 PS (164-166 hp) and 195 Nm (144 lb-ft) of torque, while a turbocharged version (L3 VDT) produces approximately 263 hp. Key components include a variable length intake manifold, sequential valve timing, and twin balancing shafts to reduce vibration.
